Falconer III

Falconer series notecards

Apx. 4 X 7" Pen Ink and Watercolor on Bristol Board, 2008-09.  Printed as 4 x 6" Notecard

This series was inspired by "De Arte Venadni Cum Avibus" (The Art of Hunting with Birds", written around 1250 AD by Holy Roman Emperor Frederich II of Hohenstaufen. (on the right of the above image is a capture of the orginal illustration, Vatican copy) and are to explore medieval drawing/illumination techniques as well as exploring the imagery of this incredible manuscript.  Currently there are 3 in this series.

This work debuted in my featured artist show "New and Revived Works" at Westboro Gallery, September - November 2009.
