Golden Eagle

5 X 7” Engraving and Soft Ground Etching on Copper plate, printed with Sepia ink on Dutch Etching paper, 2003.

This Etching and Engraving was developed during a Non-Toxic Printmaking class under the late Tom Lewis at Worcester Art Museum in Worcester, MA. The class emphasized new techniques alternative to traditional chemicals and processes, notably with etchings. This combination process with etching and engraving was also used by Rembrandt. The image is based on a real Golden Eagle (Lakota of Wingmasters) as well as from a photo reference book.
